Ofsted inspectors visited Fitzgerald Fostering between 25th and 29th October 2021. As with all fostering inspections the agency was notified of the inspection four days before the inspectors were due to arrive on the Monday morning. The inspectors, as would be expected, were rigorous in the examination of all aspects of how the agency ran. They spent time with our foster carers; spoke to some children looked after by our carers; interviewed all the staff and managers; and looked at all the paperwork that they felt was pertinent to understanding how the agency functions. Most importantly they focussed on how the agency and its foster carers support children and young people to achieve the best they can.
Whilst a challenging, and at times stressful, process the inspection was a huge success with the agency receiving an ‘Outstanding’ grading. In their report the inspectors summarised the service as follows:
‘The independent fostering agency provides highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good. The actions of the independent fostering agency contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people.’
