Highlights of 2025
2025 has been a great year for Fitzgerald Fostering. We’ve welcomed new carers and been able to place more children and young people who are unable to live with their own families in safe, loving fostering placements.
We asked the Fitzgerald Fostering team to share their own special moments from the past year – and there were lots to choose from!
Sue Beale, Registered Manager
“For me, having completed my first full year with this agency as Registered Manager, a highlight has been seeing the many new carers become approved, take their first placements and then watching them grow into the fostering role with confidence. Our carers are passionate about what they do and gain as much from the experience as the children they care for.”
Yvie Baldeo, Supervising Social Worker
“Seeing the confidence and skills of newly approved foster carers, Ryan and Nikki, develop so naturally this year has been wonderful. Their warm, committed family approach, that includes their two young children, created a happy nurturing environment for their foster child, supporting her emotional and social development and enabling her successful return to her father’s care.”
Baljit Kaur, Therapist & Social Worker
“One of the highlights of my year is the annual Christmas meal at Cosmo, where fostering households and staff come together to celebrate. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and it’s a joy to engage with the children and see how much they’ve grown over the year. Moments like these remind me of the strength, support, and shared pride within the Fitzgerald Fostering community.”
Maeve Coupe, Independent Supervising Social Worker
“Two brothers aged 20 and 23 moved from their Fitzgerald Fostering foster carers in November this year into their own flat. The young men were placed with the carers in 2018, and their wonderful carers have supported both boys to pursue their long-term goals. One of the young men is now working in a prestigious hotel as a chef, and the other is in his second year at university.”
“The boys’ parents do not live in the UK and sent a message of thanks to the carers for everything they have done for the boys. Whilst this appreciation is not expected, it was touching for the carers to receive it. The boys remain in contact, calling the carers for advice and support when needed and popping in for meals and a chat. This demonstrates the level of attachment and trust the boys have for the carers who have provided consistent care from childhood into adulthood.”
James Townend, Managing Director
“The highlight of my year was seeing The Fitzgerald Foundation really start to take off. This new charity offers practical support to young people in foster care as they transition into adulthood, and one of our first beneficiaries received a grant for the tools they needed for their apprenticeship.”
Jonathan Bruce, Director
“Like James, I was really pleased to introduce The Fitzgerald Foundation this year. The Foundation is part of our commitment to build long term relationships with our fostering households, recognising that meaningful support contributes to successful outcomes for children who spend time in foster care.”
“At Fitzgerald Fostering we believe that every child, whatever their previous circumstances, has the right to be safe and happy and should be given every opportunity to thrive in a supportive and loving family environment. This ethos is at the heart of everything we do and that will continue as we move forward.”
On behalf of everyone at Fitzgerald Fostering, a very big thank you to our wonderful foster carers and their families for everything they have done this year. Our fostering community is changing lives, and we couldn’t be prouder of our fabulous fostering households. Thank you, all.
